The Perfect Connection – Custom Design Based on HELIO RIVSET® / Böllhoff Automation GmbH

Böllhoff Automation GmbH is part of the Böllhoff Group and develops assembly solutions for the automated setting of self-piercing rivets (RIVSET®) as well as solutions for RIVKLE® blind rivet nuts and studs. The new HMI combines flexibility with intuitive, safe operation through a user-centred operating concept – delivering consistent, efficient and error-free use in everyday production through a modern look and feel. The new HMI was implemented using HELIO, the industrial HMI software we developed for creating intuitive, web-based user interfaces.

Smart Interface for Precise Riveting Processes
To provide an overview during operation, a dynamic dashboard was designed that displays relevant statuses, positions, and key metrics at a glance at any time. Custom workflows were developed for the tablet application to support both commissioning and production-related teaching processes, ensuring the system is quickly and precisely prepared for mass production. This allows users to maintain an overview in every situation and focus on what matters most. The workflows guide them reliably through each step and ensure that the system is ready for series production.
Spline Points and Envelopes – Customized with the SDK
A key element is joint point management. A control specifically tailored to this use case was designed to display the force-displacement curve and developed using the corresponding SDK. Using the HELIO SDK (Software Development Kit), it is possible to extend HELIO with custom controls, actions, and icons. These can be configured and edited just like standard components. In this project, this led to the creation of the control for the force-displacement curves, including zoom, analysis windows, and process data display. It integrates seamlessly into the existing design system and optimally meets all user interface requirements.

Corporate Design Meets the HELIO Theme
With HELIO, user interfaces can be designed exactly according to your specifications or corporate identity guidelines. Through our design services and integration with Figma, professional themes can be implemented pixel-perfect without having to compromise on design. The responsive design system developed for Böllhoff is fully aligned with the corporate design and ensures a consistent appearance across all devices. A high-contrast, minimalist skin highlights data visualizations and key KPIs. Custom illustrations and icons complement the interface.
