Design, Climate & Democracy: A Visit to the see-Conference 16

A small delegation of our design team travelled to Wiesbaden for this year's see-Conference 16 to gather new inspiration - also beyond the boundaries of design - and to exchange ideas with creatives and experts from other disciplines.

Initially launched by the Scholz&Volkmer design studio as a design conference, the see-Conference now also focuses on the topics of environmental protection and democracy.

In addition to talks by forensic scientist Dr Mark Benecke on climate change and activist Jörn Menge from the association Laut gegen Nazis, one of the highlights was the talk by British graphic design and typography veteran Neville Brody. Brody took the audience through his portfolio of over 40 years of professional experience and lamented the fact that current design lacks depth and complexity. In order to adapt to the technical requirements of digital media, layouts and CIs are becoming increasingly reduced and flatter. This restricts young designers in their intellectual freedom and prevents them from finding eye-catching solutions.

A highly recommended conference with substance and attitude, from which the entire team was able to take home important ideas.
